The Daughters of Charity Health Centers and Abundance of Desire, along with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.’s Alpha Beta Omega Chapter, Second Harvest Food Bank, Aetna, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, Healthy Blue, and other community partners, held a “Family Fall Fest” on Oct. 28 at Abundance of Desire, 3600 Desire Parkway.
The first 300 Desire-area families in attendance received free groceries.

Lakeview Regional Medical Center, a campus of Tulane Medical Center, recently conducted a community outreach program focused on injury prevention entitled “Stop the Bleed.” The course, held on Oct. 12, was open to the public. The day was designed for individuals interested in learning how to intervene in an emergency when someone is bleeding.
The American Heart Association hosted a “friendly” competition between the Tulane Medical Center administration team and a team of stroke providers on Oct. 26 at Tulane Medical Center in New Orleans. The stroke relay was a fun, five-station obstacle course which demonstrated the stroke warning signs.
