Tulane Medical Center has been named a World’s Best Hospital by Newsweek in its 2019 listing of the top medical facilities across the globe. Of the 1,000 hospitals listed in the report, Tulane Medical Center is one of just 250 “World’s Best Hospitals” found in the United States and the only hospital in southern Louisiana on the list.
Officials with Tulane Health System and the Jefferson Parish Coroner’s Office dedicated a new suite at Tulane Lakeside Hospital that provides specialized care for victims of sexual assault and sexually oriented crimes.
University Medical Center New Orleans announced that Nirav Patel, MD, is its chief medical officer. Patel, a specialist in infectious diseases and critical care medicine, most recently served as chief medical officer and vice-president of medical affairs at SSM Health Saint Louis University Hospital.

Each April, Ochsner Health System celebrates National Donate Life Month to raise awareness about the importance of organ, eye, and tissue donation and to celebrate those that have saved lives through the gift of donation.
According to Donate Life America and the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency, more than 114,000 men, women, and children are currently waiting for lifesaving organ transplants and in Louisiana, more than 2,000 people are on the waiting list.
