LCMC Health announced that Gregory A. Nielsen, MHA, FACHE, has been named chief executive officer of East Jefferson General Hospital (EJGH). Nielsen assumed responsibility as interim CEO of EJGH in early 2023 and was appointed permanent CEO of the hospital this month.

The announcement comes on the heels of EJGH transitioning into an academic center of excellence in partnership with Tulane University. EJGH is now the clinical home for Tulane School of Medicine and has expanded specialty care services and advanced treatment and academic medicine.

After 38 years of dedicated service, Joy D. Osofsky, PhD, a clinical and developmental psychologist, will be retiring from her role as the Paul J. Ramsay Endowed Chair in Psychiatry, Barbara Lemann Professor of Child Welfare, and professor of psychiatry and pediatrics at LSU Health New Orleans.

St. Tammany Health System has received Healthgrades’ Outstanding Patient Experience Award, placing it in the top 10% of U.S. hospitals for patient experience.

This 2024 award marks the 16th consecutive year the health system has earned the honor, dating to 2009.

The New Family Center at St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital has achieved the Birth Ready+ designation from the Louisiana Perinatal Quality Collaborative, a program administered through the state Department of Health.

This designation recognizes the health system’s consistent, thoughtful healthcare and quality improvement work. Additionally, it celebrates improved perinatal health outcomes, the result of implementing safe, equitable, and dignified clinical practices to improve outcomes for all people who give birth in Louisiana.
