Today, on May 28, grassroots volunteers, healthcare providers, community partners, and families will be at the Louisiana State Capitol to share information, engage with lawmakers, and reinforce the support for evidence-based vaccine policies in the state. 

This will be the fourth annual Day of Action for Louisiana Families for Vaccines and its partners in public health. 

The group will be talking to lawmakers about several issues, but HB 690 is of special concern to the organizations.

A targeted mental health awareness campaign significantly reduced the time it takes for individuals experiencing psychosis to seek and receive treatment in New Orleans, according to a Tulane University study. 

The research, published in the journal Psychiatric Services, evaluated the impact of a campaign that educated the public about early signs of psychosis and encouraged people to seek professional help sooner. Psychosis refers to a collection of symptoms affecting the mind in which people have trouble distinguishing between what is real and what is not.

DePaul Community Health Centers' Infant Empowerment Education Program (DIEEP) is hosting its 2nd Annual "Date with Dad: Strong Fathers, Strong Families, and a Strong City." The free event, to be held June 7, highlights the role of fathers in building strong families and a thriving community. This gathering will feature panel discussions on paternal mental health, defining fatherhood, career development, the impact of education on parenthood, financial literacy, and more. The program will also include a healthy lunch and free giveaways.
