The Organ Grinders (OG) and the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and Assistance Foundation (NOMAF) co-host their fourth annual tiki-themed blood drive on Aug. 27 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at Tipitina’s. The groups’ goal is to collect 250 pints of blood for The Blood Center of New Orleans in a day filled with live music, dance troupe showcases, raffles, and more.

The Big Easy Fleur de Lis Parkinson’s Support Group holds meetings at East Jefferson General Hospital in the Esplanade I room of the first floor Conference Center. There is no fee to attend. The next meeting will be on Aug. 28 from 1-3 p.m.
The topic for the August meeting will be “Parkinson’s Disease: More than Motor Symptoms,” presented by Dr. Jay Rao, MD, Professor Emeritus of Neurology and Neurosciences and Professor of Clinical Neurology at LSU, and Mary Brocato, Executive Neuroscience Sales Specialist for ACADIA Pharmaceuticals.

St. Tammany Parish Hospital will hold its annual Fall Health Fair from 8:30 a.m. to 12 noon Aug. 26 at the Paul D. Cordes Outpatient Pavilion, 16300 Highway 1085 in Covington.
The free event will offer numerous free health screenings for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), peripheral artery disease (PAD), carotid artery disease, blood pressure, flexibility, and body mass index (BMI). Participants must check in no later than 11 a.m. for the free screenings.

When Dana Beuhler and Caroline Thomas were invited to be artist demonstrators in the Kids Tent at the 2017 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, they saw an opportunity to do something big – really big! They were determined to engage the children in a hands-on project to create a large floor-to-ceiling art installation for Tulane Comprehensive Cancer Clinic at Tulane Health System.
