The 2018 59th Annual National Dialogues on Behavioral Health (NDBH) annual conference will be held in New Orleans at the Renaissance Arts Hotel from Oct. 28 -31 and is titled, "Reinventing the Behavioral Health Workforce: Implementing Innovative Solutions.” The pre-conference program will be held Oct. 28.
Ambassadors for the public awareness campaign, The New 50, Harry Connick, Jr., and his wife, Jill Connick, will host an event to encourage attendees age 50 and older to talk with their healthcare provider about colon cancer screening.
The free event will be held Sept. 20 from 6-8 p.m. at the House of Blues, 225 Decatur St. in New Orleans.
Attendees can pledge to get screened by joining the #ScreenWithMe Challenge, and generate support for colon cancer research and advocacy efforts.
The National Institutes of Health has awarded a $2.5 million translational research grant over five years to Noelle Moreau, PhD, PT, associate professor of physical therapy at LSU Health New Orleans School of Allied Health Professions, to study the effectiveness of a highly innovative approach to improve the ability of children with cerebral palsy to walk. Dr.
Scott Montgomery has been named chief operating officer of Lakeview Regional Medical Center, a campus of Tulane Medical Center. As COO, he will have executive responsibility for operational procedures of the 167-bed acute care hospital and will be part of the collaborative team responsible for strategic planning for the hospital.
About 200 alumni of LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry will gather at the school at 1100 Florida Avenue on Aug. 24 to commemorate the past and learn about the future of the school and the profession. As New Orleans celebrates its tricentennial, LSU Health New Orleans celebrates the 50th anniversary of its School of Dentistry, the only dental school in Louisiana, at Alumni Day 2018 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.
