The Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, one of the most prestigious medical centers in the world, invited Dr. Larry H. Hollier, chancellor of LSU Health New Orleans, to be part of the 12th annual Larry H. Hollier Visiting Professorship activities which were held at Mayo on Aug. 23-24. The Mayo Clinic established the Larry H. Hollier Visiting Professorship in Vascular Surgery in 2007 to honor Hollier, who founded the Division of Vascular Surgery at Mayo Clinic.

Daughters of Charity Health Centers now offer after-hours medical appointments at its Carrollton health center, 3201 South Carrollton Avenue. After-hours medical services are available from 7:30 a.m.- 8 p.m., Monday through Thursday, and 8 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturdays. A complete list of Carrollton health center hours is below:

St. Tammany Parish Hospital earned A+ Issuer Default Rating (IDR) from Fitch Ratings for current and future debt. Additionally, Fitch assigned STPH a Positive Outlook for the future. This rating is significantly higher than its previous rating of A with Stable Outlook.

According to Fitch, the upgrade reflects STPH’s “strong trend in operating performance, further growth in unrestricted liquidity, and increasing patient volumes.”

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services recently announced $125 million in Quality Improvement grant awards to 1,352 community health centers across all U.S. states, territories, and the District of Columbia. The grants are funded by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA). Marillac Community Health Centers, dba Daughters of Charity Health Centers (DCHC), received $274,064 of the $2,894,641 awarded to community health centers in Louisiana, the highest single amount received in the state.

Mary Bird Perkins TGMC Cancer Center (Cancer Center) welcomes Tiffany Tuberville Adams as their new development coordinator. Adams will be responsible for the implementation and growth of the philanthropic development program to raise awareness and support for the Cancer Center and for local cancer patients.
