The Health Resources & Services Administration (HRSA) recently awarded more than $396 million to health centers nationwide to address opioid addiction. Marillac Community Health Centers dba Daughters of Charity Health Centers (DCHC) received $324,500 (tied for the highest amount award statewide with one other health center) of the $8,569,833 awarded to 30 health centers in Louisiana.

The Louisiana Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (LA AAP), Louisiana Shots for Tots Coalition, and the American Cancer Society have teamed up to present the HPV Summit: Practical Tools to Implement Change.  The event will be held Oct. 4 at Pennington Biomedical Research Center, 6400 Perkins Rd. in Baton Rouge.

Baton Rouge General (BRG) announced it has partnered with the Cancer Association of Greater New Orleans (CAGNO) to expand the cancer group’s services to Baton Rouge.  CAGNO offers counseling, support, and discounts to patients undergoing cancer treatment in southeastern Louisiana.

A team led by Jessica Landry, DNP, FNP-BC, program coordinator, BSN-DNP primary care namily nurse practitioner at LSU Health New Orleans School of Nursing, successfully competed for a $1.3 million grant to increase access to certified sexual assault nurse examiners (SANE) for people who have been sexually assaulted in 12 southeast Louisiana parishes. The Health Resources & Services Administration of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services awarded the three-year grant, which began Sept. 30, 2018.
