Ochsner Health System (OHS) has released a whitepaper describing the results of its partnership with Sight Medical, LLC to transform, redesign, and automate various aspects of medical device surgical processes into a new automated model. The beta technology was deployed within six months across three hospitals, four surgeons using multiple vendors starting in 2016 creating a quickly scalable and more importantly sustainable solution for surgeons; or staff, supply chain, and vendors.

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America’s Educating America Tour is stopping in New Orleans on Oct. 24 from 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at Loews New Orleans Hotel. Dr. W. Patrick Gahan, adjunct associate professor at LSU’s Pennington Biomedical Research Center’s Institute for Dementia Research, is one of the keynote speakers. His presentation is entitled Preventing and Treating Cognitive Decline – What You Need to Know About Healthy Aging.

Ready Responders and UnitedHealthcare are partnering with New Orleans East Hospital to identify patients who can receive services through in-home settings instead of the emergency room.
This new relationship with New Orleans East Hospital is part of a pilot Ready Responders and UnitedHealthcare announced in April that provides at-home triage care for patients experiencing non-emergent or non-life-threatening medical issues. Louisianans enrolled in UnitedHealthcare employer-sponsored, individual, or Medicaid health plans can now benefit from this new collaboration.

Stephen Baldwin has accepted the position of chief operating officer for Touro Infirmary. Stephen has been a member of the Touro family since 2014, serving as vice president of operations, where he has been responsible for directing, planning, and organizing the clinical support and service departments for the hospital.
