LCMC Health announced the continued expansion of the Healthcare Professions Pipeline Program, a pathways program aimed at cultivating and supporting the next generation of healthcare professionals. The program now involves 12 strategic partnerships with nine institutions or schools across Louisiana.

Louisiana Healthcare Connections announced its partnership as the presenting sponsor of the 2023 Pretty Girls Jump Health & Wellness Festival. The festival, dedicated to promoting physical fitness and holistic wellness, will take place on June 30, from 3-7 p.m. at McDonogh 35 Senior High School, located at 4000 Cadillac Street in New Orleans.

The chances of surviving massive blood loss from a traumatic injury such as a gunshot wound are around 50 percent. To survive, a patient needs two things to happen quickly: a large infusion of blood and coagulation at the wound to stop the bleeding.

The problem is one of these solutions prevents the other. Introducing a large amount of blood to those suffering a massive hemorrhage impairs the blood’s ability to clot, a condition known as coagulopathy.

Terrebonne General Health System announced that it has received the Excellence in Professionalism Distinction from the American Board of Certification for Gastroenterology Nurses (ABCGN) for the second consecutive year. The ABCGN is dedicated to the professional development of gastroenterology nurses. This distinction recognizes facilities that support the gastroenterology nurse’s commitment to excellence through certification.

The Terrebonne General Endoscopy Department has achieved 50% or more of its nurses certified in gastroenterology.

North Oaks Health System’s Dietetic Internship faculty and staff honored seven graduates for completing the program with a graduation ceremony on June 15. The health system’s Chief Human Resources Officer Jeff Jarreau presided over the ceremony, held at the E. Brent Dufreche Conference Center on the North Oaks Medical Center campus.
