Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) and the TGMC Board of Commissioners have made, and continue to make, substantial investments to keep staff, physicians, and the community prepared for COVID-19. Throughout this ongoing pandemic, TGMC has taken a proactive approach and established a COVID Medical Team to ensure that the safest care, and the most adequate supplies and resources are available. To date, approximately $5 million has been invested in the improvements of the medical center.
The Louisiana Public Health Institute (LPHI) and the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) launched a patient-driven study to analyze how COVID-19-related policies affect individuals and the spread of the disease. The study is made possible through a funding award of $4,979,798 from the Patient-Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI).
Elizabeth Burns, APRN, joined Washington Regional Internal Medicine Associates where she works alongside Allison Moss Johnson, MD, to provide care for patients 18 years and older. Burns earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences and a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Arkansas Tech University.
Our Lady of the Angels Hospital in Bogalusa, La. has installed the AquilionTM PRIME CT system from Canon Medical Systems. Aquilion PRIME provides faster exams at as low as reasonably achievable doses, while producing high-quality images required for accurate diagnoses.
Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) is raising awareness about sepsis during Sepsis Awareness month this September. Sepsis is the body’s overwhelming and life threatening response to infection, which can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death. Sepsis takes more lives than opioid overdose, breast cancer, and prostate cancer combined.
