University Medical Center New Orleans, a part of LCMC Health, and Humana Inc. (NYSE: HUM) have signed an in-network agreement, expanding access to care for Humana Medicare members. 

Humana’s Medicare Advantage members in the following plans will now have in-network access to University Medical Center:

• Humana Gold Plus (HMO)

• Humana Gold Choice (PFFS)

• Humana Choice (PPO)

• Humana LCMC Advantage (HMO)

Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) has installed NICVIEW 2® live video streaming camera systems, which supports our philosophy of family-centered care in a unit where the length of stay is longer than a few days. NICVIEW 2, the Neo Intensive Care Unit (NICU) camera system, helps extended family-centered care by giving family members a virtual window to their newborns. Some babies born prematurely are placed in the NICU, but are released within a few days. However, for other babies the length of stay can be months.

The National Cancer Institute of the National Institutes of Health has awarded LSU Health New Orleans Stanley S. Scott Cancer Center a $147,000 supplement to its NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) grant to create the Louisiana Cancer-COVID-19 Registry with the Louisiana Department of Health.

The Ochsner Community Health Brees Family Center is now open and serving patients at 5950 Bullard Avenue in New Orleans East. Designed to deliver primary and specialty care to underserved communities with the goal of promoting health equity for all, the new facility served more than 20 primary care patients within its first two days of opening. Ochsner has committed more than $10 million to open and operate this site with support from Brittany and Drew Brees and their Brees Dream Foundation.

More than 130 Northshore residents safely took proactive measures to protect their health by participating in Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s third annual Live Well Northshore event at the Covington Trailhead. Funded by the Ben Blanchard Memorial Foundation, Northshore residents received screenings for four different types of cancers at no cost at the Oct. 3 event.
