The event took place at the LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry. Louisiana Dental Center gave a donation of $10,000 to Dr. Henry Gremillion, dean of LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry. The gift will support the Summer Enrichment Program and the Orofacial Pain Initiative at the School. Begun in 2007, the LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry Summer Enrichment Program for underrepresented minority and disad- vantaged students just completed its 14th year. The two-week program introduces students to the dental profession, the dental school application process, and the demands of dental school. There were seven participants in the 2019 Summer Enrichment Program organized by Drs. Stephanie Noe and Stephen Brisco. Two of the participants are currently enrolled in the dental lab technician program. Since the inception of the Summer Enrichment Program, 119 students have participated. Sixty-three former participants are either enrolled in or have been accepted into dental school; thirty-seven of these students either enrolled in or have been accepted by LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry. LSU Health New Orleans School of Dentistry is the only dental school in the State of Louisiana, and about 75 percent of the dental profes- sionals practicing in Louisiana are its graduates. Many of the Louisiana Dental Center dentists are alumni.
