Prior to his appointment as dean of medical education and head of UQOchsner Clinical School in 2018,Ame- dee served for nearly 10 years as the designated institutional officer for the Department of Grad- uate Medical Education at Ochsner, which offers 30 different residency programs. Amedee holds an undergraduate degree from Nicholls State University and a medical degree from Louisi- ana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans, where he also completed his residency in otolaryngology. Ochsner Urgent Care Opens NewClinic in Central Business District Ochsner Urgent Care brings healthcare to Cen- tral Business District professionals and residents with the opening of Ochsner Urgent Care &Occu- pational Health – CBD at 701 Poydras Street, Suite 107. The 3,050 square foot facility is located on the first floor of the Whitney Hancock building (formerly One Shell Square) and features four exam rooms and one larger treatment room. The clinic offers a variety of walk-in services for adult and pediatric (six months and up) patients and is equipped to treat: lacerations; abscesses; coughs, colds, and sore throats; urinary pain; earaches; minor burns, rashes, sunburns, and heat ailments; non-life-threatening allergic reac- tions; fevers or flu-like symptoms; mild to mod- erate stomach aches; rashes or other skin irrita- tions; select immunizations; and workers’ comp injuries. “By offering high-quality healthcare within walking distance of your downtown office build- ing or residence, we are fulfilling a vital need for our thriving downtown community,” said Dawn Pevey, MBA, BSN, RN, system vice president of service lines, Ochsner Health System. The CBD clinic also offers the following occu- pational health services: pre-employment phys- icals; drug and alcohol screening; pulmonary function testing; immunizations for international travel; Occupational Safety and Health Adminis- tration (OSHA) approved audio screening; initial post-injury care; treatment for chemical expo- sure; treatment for early return to work; and occupational therapy referral. “Ochsner Urgent Care is dedicated to making healthcare accessible, regardless of where you work, live or play,” said Granville Morse, III, MD, system chair, Ochsner Urgent Care. The Carpenter Health Network Announces NewVice President of Payor Strategy and Contracting The Carpenter Health Network, a Louisi- ana-based post-acute healthcare network, announced that Wendy Knight has been named vice president of payor strategy and contracting. In this new position, Knight leads the network in executing managed care strategies and iden- tifies and implements leading practices and pro- cesses. She is responsible for activities of strat- egy development, contract negotiations, payor collaboration, payor performance monitoring, contract operationalization, payor relations, and issue resolution. “It is one of the most exciting times in my healthcare career,” stated Wendy Knight. “Post- acute care is quickly becoming one of the fast- est growing segments of healthcare in the United States. The number of older beneficiaries with multiple chronic conditions continues to rise, and these are our patients. I pride myself in ensur- ing that our caregivers can provide care to the patients and their families as I assist in ensuring their insurance challenges are never an issue.We try to simplify the ability to provide care to those that need it. Knight initially joinedThe Carpenter Health Net- work in 2017 as corporate executive director of payor strategies and contracting. In this role, she developed centralized departments of managed care contracting and credentialing for the entire network. Knight also directed and implemented strategies related to the management of third- party payor lines of business and company strat- egies to resolve and prioritize contracting needs. Knight earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Arts from Nicholls State Uni- versity inThibodaux. Subsequently, she received a Master of Health Administration degree from Tulane University in New Orleans.
