DCHC Announces Open Applications for Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Program

The application process is now open for DePaul Community Health Centers’ (DCHC) Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Training Program, a full-time, 12-month salaried residency offering intensive clinical and professional development for newly graduated family nurse practitioners. The program runs from the first week in September 2026 to the end of August 2027. The 2026-27 class will mark the residency program’s third cohort.

This residency is designed for new family nurse practitioners committed to building their careers as primary care providers in a community health center and safety network settings. Residents will receive hands-on training in the clinical complexity of family practice while working within DCHC’s patient-centered medical home model of care.

The program structure includes a comprehensive mix of precepted primary care sessions, specialty rotations, mentored independent clinics, didactic learning sessions, quality improvement training, and leadership development opportunities. By placing residents directly in community health environments, DCHC prepares them to meet the needs of medically underserved and diverse populations with confidence and clinical skill.

“Our Family Nurse Practitioner Residency Program is rooted in the Mission of expanding access to quality primary care while supporting the next generation of primary care clinicians,” said Dr. Michael Griffin, DCHC’s president and CEO. “This training equips providers to thrive in the dynamic and rewarding environment of community health centers.”

Applicants for the 2026-2027 residency cohort are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, as selections will be made on a rolling basis until all spots are filled. Any questions about the program may be directed to depaulnpresidency@dcsno.org.
