STQN Announces Medical Director’s Award for Q2 2025

St. Tammany Quality Network (STQN) announced that Joseph Landers, MD, and Andrew Baier, MD, have been awarded the Northshore organization’s Medical Director’s Award for the second quarter of 2025, in recognition of their contributions to the development and implementation of Structured Interdisciplinary Bedside Rounding (SIBR) at St. Tammany Health System.

SIBR is conducted each weekday across most patient units at the health system’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital. This interdisciplinary approach brings together representatives from hospital medicine, pharmacy, physical therapy, case management, and nursing for regular visits with each patient and their families to discuss a summary of the patient’s treatment plan, clinical progress, expected discharge date, and discharge destination.

Each of the hospital’s nursing units has a dedicated hospitalist assigned to the treatment team.

“This initiative has significantly transformed care delivery at St. Tammany Health System. Hospitalists no longer need to travel from unit to unit to provide patient care,” said Michael Hill, MD, STQN medical director. “Patients, nurses, the care team and hospitalists all appreciate this change to a truly patient-centered care model.”
