St. Tammany Hospital Foundation’s Healing Arts Initiative is hosting a reception to open the fifth artist exhibit in its rotating art gallery series on Feb. 21 at 4-6:30 p.m. in the St. Tammany Parish Hospital main lobby. The event will include a brief program, artist recognition at 4:15 p.m., and tours of the galleries.
“We are excited to present the fifth healing arts exhibition featuring a selection of paintings filled with colors and interesting shapes and forms,” said Carlos Sanchez, STH Foundation board member and Healing Arts Initiative member. “This time around, the abstract subject matter and depiction of bright colors make these works of art quite recognizable to those in our community who are familiar with each artist participating in this exhibition. We are very thankful to the artists and proud of their participation in this exhibition, which makes our community stronger on initiatives relevant to modern medicine.”
Ten local artists will be exhibited through April 9 in hallways near PJs coffee shop, the gift shop off the main lobby, and the 3 North connecting bridge. Artists showcased include Dawn Brown, John Fridge, Michelle Gibbs, Cindi Guillot, Marcia Holmes, Denise Hopkins, Christina Pappion, Michael Pizzella, Abby Sands, and Bill Stewart. The exhibit, titled “A Brilliant Hope,” will include a mixture of acrylics, oils on canvas, pastels, mixed media, and photography, capturing the hope that art can bring to patients, families, friends, and employees.
