St. Tammany Quality Network presented its 2021 fourth-quarter Medical Director’s Award to Mark Jones, MD, for his role in establishing the trauma program at St. Tammany Health System.
“As medical director of the trauma program, Dr. Jones has been instrumental in the development of our trauma program,” said Michael K. Hill, MD, STHS vice president for quality and utilization management. “Under Dr. Jones leadership, our multidisciplinary team developed an excellent certified Level 3 trauma program that serves our community well in the heart of Covington.”
The STHS trauma program is part of the American College of Surgeons’ Trauma Quality Improvement Program. This program has several quality goals which are constantly monitored by the trauma team.
STHS focuses on improving trauma care for patients in west St. Tammany and the surrounding community to provide the best care possible without requiring transfer. Services such as neurosurgery, complex hand surgery, and orthopedic surgery are cared for by the trauma team.
Jones is a board-certified general surgeon. He has been on staff at STHS for seven years. He completed residency at LSU and practices at STHS Northlake Surgical Associates.
