Children’s Hospital NO Names Lucio A. Fragoso as President, CEO

Children’s Hospital New Orleans announced the selection of Lucio A. Fragoso as its new president and chief executive officer. Fragoso, who first joined Children’s Hospital New Orleans in 2019, was promoted to the new role after serving as the hospital’s chief financial officer and chief administrative officer.

Fragoso was named to the new role after former President and CEO, John R. Nickens, IV, was promoted to serve as President of Hospital Services and Chief of Pediatrics for LCMC Health, the nine-hospital health system that manages Children’s Hospital New Orleans. Working in this new capacity, Nickens will work as part of the LCMC Health executive leadership team to positively impact people at all stages of life, including continuing to work closely with the Children's Hospital New Orleans team.

“I am honored to have the opportunity to lead the Children's Hospital New Orleans team as president and CEO, and am humbled by this opportunity to serve the children and families across our region who depend on our expert level of care,” said Fragoso. “I am excited to live out the long-standing mission of Children’s Hospital in this new capacity as we continue to build a healthier future for all children.”

Fragoso has dedicated his career to pediatrics, serving in leadership roles at both Lurie Children’s in Chicago and Texas Children’s Hospital prior to joining Children’s Hospital New Orleans in 2019.

“With his immense experience in pediatric healthcare, Lou Fragoso will expertly lead an exciting new chapter at Children’s Hospital,” said Greg Feirn, CEO, LCMC Health. “I am confident that Lou’s strong technical knowledge of clinical operations, academic medicine, healthcare finance, business development, and governance, combined with his charisma, leadership, and staff engagement, will serve Children’s Hospital incredibly well.”

“Lou has been instrumental in the growth of our programs here at Children’s Hospital, recruitment and retention of top talent, improved access and experience, and has demonstrated a true commitment to excellence,” said John R. Nickens IV, president of hospital services and chief of pediatrics, LCMC Health. “With his drive and passion for the mission of Children’s Hospital, Lou will continue to make great progress toward improving health outcomes for kids across our region.’

Fragoso completed his Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting at Loyola University Chicago.
