Chartis, a leading healthcare advisory firm, has named Ochsner St. Anne Hospital a Top 100 Critical Access Hospital for 2025. St. Anne Hospital was the only facility in Louisiana included in the list. 

“Being named a top Critical Access Hospital in America is great recognition for our staff and great news for the patients in the communities we serve,” says Sheri Eschete, Ochsner St. Anne chief operating officer. “Our staff work diligently to maintain the highest of healthcare standards and quality of care for our patients, who are our first priority always.”

A new study from Tulane University suggests that repeated collapse and reopening of tiny alveoli—air sacs in the lungs essential for breathing—during mechanical ventilation may cause microscopic tissue damage, playing a key role in ventilator-related injuries that contribute to thousands of deaths annually.

DePaul Community Health Centers (DCHC) is once again offering free dental screenings and fluoride treatments for children on Give Kids A Smile Day, March 22.

The event, presented by Fore!Kids Foundation, will take place at DCHC’s Carrollton location (3201 S. Carrollton Ave.) from 8 a.m.-1 p.m. and provide children ages one to 10 years old with dental care. Additionally, children will enjoy face-painting, balloon art, games, music from a DJ and more. Last year’s event provided dental services for nearly 130 children.
