Colorectal cancer is one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths in the United States. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), colorectal cancer screenings should begin at age 45 for most adults, even for those without symptoms or a family history. The CDC also notes that colorectal cancer incidence rates are significantly higher in men than in women.
