Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Louisiana recently partnered with Greater New Orleans, Inc. and the New Orleans Chamber of Commerce to host the second annual Business to Business Forum on Healthcare Solutions (B2B Health Forum) at the Hyatt Regency New Orleans.

The daylong event gave Louisiana business owners a chance to meet with subject matter experts to learn more about potential changes to healthcare reform, and how to rein in the rising costs from prescription drugs. Other topics included applying Big Data concepts to healthcare, and developing worksite wellness programs.

NFL legends and former New Orleans Saints appeared during Tulane Medical Center’s Men’s Heath Event, held on Sept.9 at the medical center, in order to help promote prostate cancer awareness and screening.

Rickey Jackson, NFL Hall of Famer, Super Bowl champion, and prostate cancer survivor shared his story with attendees. He emphasized that “being a man” means more than successes “on the field.” It means taking care of one’s health in order to take care of the people in one’s life.

The conference, "Framing the Future of Behavioral Health Services: What's the Next Step?," will be preceded by a pre-conference program, to be held Oct. 22.

University Medical Center (UMC) New Orleans’ Cancer Center will host “A Town Hall on Breast Health & Cancer,” a free event featuring a wide array of topics across many areas of breast health, from diagnosis to survivorship.

The event will take place on Sept. 16 in the UMC Conference Center from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.  It is open to the community, and will include a complimentary breakfast. Registration is available online at www.umcno.org/breastlecture.
