Lafayette General Health and Ochsner Health System recently hosted a ribbon cutting and open house to celebrate the opening of a new pediatric subspecialty clinic, a joint venture between Lafayette General Medical Center and Ochsner Hospital for Children.

The former MHM Urgent Care location, at 5922 W. Main Street, Suite A in Houma, recently reopened as Ochsner Terrebonne Urgent Care. Ochsner Health System acquired Millennium Health Management, Inc. (MHM) in January, increasing access to convenient, non-emergency care in South Louisiana. Through their strategic partnership, Ochsner Health System (Ochsner) and Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) reopened the urgent care clinic to provide immediate, quality care for Houma residents after-hours and on weekends.

New patient appointments are now being scheduled with Orthopaedic Surgeon and Sports Medicine Specialist Jeffrey B. Witty, MD, who has joined North Oaks Orthopaedic Specialty Center in Hammond.

Witty is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery in orthopaedic sports medicine, and comes to North Oaks from the Lafayette area, where he was a practicing physician for three years.

The state of Louisiana would lose at least $45,111,030 to counter health crises over the next five years if the Prevention and Public Health Fund (PPHF), part of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), were repealed, according to an analysis by the Trust for America's Health (TFAH). The United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) stands to lose 12 percent of its annual budget.

In total, states would end up losing more than $3 billion over the next five years - from grants and programs supported by the Prevention Fund.
