DePaul Community Health Centers’ Vice President of Mission Integration, Matthew Picard, recently graduated from the Jefferson Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Jefferson program. Over the past nine months, Piccard joined more than 40 emerging leaders from across the parish to explore pressing issues facing the community including, education, healthcare, economic development, state legislation, and more.
Piccard was also selected by his peers to serve as graduation speaker.
As hurricane season gets underway across the Gulf Coast, Louisiana Healthcare Connections is reminding residents across the state to take proactive steps in preparing for severe weather - especially when it comes to their health and medical needs.
“Hurricanes can disrupt access to care, medications, and medical supplies,” said Stewart Gordon, MD, chief medical officer for Louisiana Healthcare Connections. “We urge our members and all Louisianans to start their medical preparations early, especially those with chronic conditions, disabilities, or other ongoing healthcare needs.”
Readers of NOLA.com, The Times-Picayune, and the St. Tammany Farmer have named St. Tammany Health System’s flagship St. Tammany Parish Hospital the best hospital on the Northshore in the inaugural Best of St. Tammany awards.
It is one of a total of 18 recognitions bestowed upon the health system, including Best Cancer Center, Best Pharmacy and Best Place to Work.

NEW ORLEANS – Every morning, to avoid getting sick, Jessica Baudean must take a long trip across the Mississippi. Baudean, who is disabled, lived in a tent near Tchoupitoulas Street until she received housing support in 2022, and now lives with her partner in an apartment in Avondale.
