In celebration of Black Maternal Breastfeeding Week, DePaul Community Health Centers will host "Tickled Pink to Breastfeed," an evening reception dedicated to supporting and celebrating mothers on their breastfeeding journey. The event is presented in partnership with DePaul Community Health Centers Infant Equity Education Program (DIEEP), the Alpha Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and other local organizations.
Terrebonne General Health System announced the addition of new physician specialists. Andrew J. Bergeron, MD, hospital medicine specialist; Spencer L. Robichaux, MD, PhD, anesthesiologist; and Patrick J. St. Martin, MD, family and sports medicine specialist, will join the medical staff.
A fall health summit focused on navigating health equity and access in Louisiana through technology will be held Oct. 22-23. Early bird registration is now underway.
Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center announced that medical oncologist Andrew Gahagan, MD, has joined Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center’s medical staff, serving Baton Rouge and the surrounding area.
Gahagan obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, where he graduated magna cum laude in 2014. He earned a medical degree at the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in New Orleans in 2018 and gained board certification from the American Board of Internal Medicine in 2021.
Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center will host its inaugural “Barbershop Bash” event on Aug. 24 from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. at Webb’s Barbershop (401 Eddie Robinson Sr. Drive) in Baton Rouge. This no-cost community screening event will offer educational resources on prevention and early detection as well as screenings for prostate and colorectal cancer. There will also be free food, music, and activities for children.
