DePaul Community Health Centers (DCHC) offers free COVID-19 virus testing at all 10 of its health centers located in metro New Orleans. DCHC’s increased testing capacity comes as a result of collaborating with both Louisiana Healthcare Connections and Quest Diagnostics to test both symptomatic and asymptomatic individuals in underserved communities.

Louisiana Healthcare Connections announced that six community-based organizations have been awarded funding through the health plan’s COVID-19 Recovery Grants Program. The COVID-19 Recovery Grants Program awards grants of up to $5,000 each to assist eligible organizations in implementing innovative solutions to address the social service and healthcare needs of those affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Organizations selected for funding awards include:
• Ben D. Johnson Educational Center, in Natchitoches, for its Legacy Café Share-A-Meal program

DePaul Community Health Centers (DCHC) recently received a $60,000 grant from the Delta Dental Community Care Foundation to subsidize the dental care of low-income patients and to assist DCHC’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This marks the fifth consecutive year that the foundation awarded funding to DCHC to support patients who have little or no dental insurance.

Louisiana Healthcare Connections has partnered with 20 community-based organizations to distribute 1,900 pre-paid gift cards to families and individuals who have been financially impacted by COVID-19. The gift cards enable these families to purchase food and cleaning and personal hygiene items at Walmart and Amazon.

Ochsner Health has announced community COVID-19 testing locations in the greater New Orleans and Northshore regions the week of June 29. Testing is open to Louisiana residents, age two and older.
Members of the community who wish to be tested should bring an ID and insurance card, if applicable. There are no out-of-pocket costs for those seeking a test and no one will be turned away based on their insurance status. Testing is available at the times listed on the website listed below, or until all test kits have been utilized.
