Tulane Medical Center has again been recognized as a High-Performing Hospital by U.S. News & World Report for its treatment of two of the region’s most serious health concerns – chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and heart failure.

This designation is part of the publication’s annual Best Hospitals rankings, which evaluates nearly 6,000 hospitals nationwide. The Best Hospitals methodologies include objective measures such as patient survival, the number of times a given procedure is performed, infection rates, adequacy of nursing staff, and more.

Ochsner Health recently launched Masks On, a campaign to educate the public about the importance of wearing a face mask in public. Ochsner recently mailed 100,000 complimentary cloth masks to both pediatric and adult patients.

Following recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC), Ochsner advises all individuals ages two and older wear a face mask when in public spaces. Gov. John Bel Edwards announced a statewide mask mandate for Louisiana residents on July 11, in response to growing COVID-19 cases across the state.

Slidell Memorial Hospital (SMH) has selected Holly Sanchez as its chief operating officer. In this position, Sanchez will oversee the day-to-day business operations of the hospital, as well as continue to oversee SMH’s information technology. She will report to Chief Executive Officer Sandy Badinger.

St. Tammany Health System has confirmed an upward trend in pandemic caseload, necessitating changes to visitor policy.

St. Tammany Health System is limiting patient visitation to one essential adult caregiver per patient. Essential caregivers must be 18 years or over and one of the following:

·Essential transport home after a same-day surgical procedure

·Laboring mother’s spouse or partner

·Child’s parents or guardians

·Critically ill patient’s spouse or significant other

·Infusion patient’s spouse or caregiver
