Seven of Acadian Ambulance’s service areas have received the American Heart Association’s Mission: Lifeline® EMS Award for implementing quality improvement measures for the treatment of patients who experienced severe heart attacks, known as STEMIs, during 2019.
St. Tammany Health System (STHS) and Ochsner Health announced that they are partnering on a new, state-of-the-art cancer center on the Northshore. The nearly $50 million project will provide west St. Tammany residents (not just patients but also their caregivers and loved ones) with local access to even more coordinated cancer services across different specialties than currently available in our community.
A new healthcare solution is available for Louisiana residents who recently lost health insurance and are currently uninsured due to COVID-19. The new Ochsner Health Care Bridge program is a three-month program designed to keep individuals connected to their Ochsner physicians and the healthcare services they need to manage chronic conditions, get prescriptions filled, and in many cases, get prescription drug assistance.
Panic disorder is one of the most common mental disorders in the United States, with nearly five percent of the population suffering attacks that cause extreme disruption in their daily lives.
The cause of panic disorder is not fully understood, but it is likely attributable to altered neuronal processes, said Jonathan Fadok, an assistant professor of psychology at Tulane University.
LCMC Health announced that Touro and West Jefferson Medical Center have achieved the silver standard Level 2 Geriatric Emergency Department Accreditation (GEDA) from The American College of Emergency Physicians, with support from The Gary and Mary West Health Institute and John A. Hartford Foundation. The GEDA accreditation recognizes those emergency departments that provide excellent care for older adults.
