Saints & Pelicans Promote
Tobacco-Free Living
The Louisiana Campaign for Tobacco-Free Living
(TFL) is partnering with the New Orleans Saints
andPelicans topromote smoke-free environments
and the importance of protection for all Louisian-
ans against secondhand smoke. Several players
will help spread the message of the importance
of being tobacco-free and why they choose to do
so through various PSAs and other promotional
efforts. Both the Saints andPelicans have commit-
ted tomaking their respectivepractice facilities, as
well as the business offices, smoke-free.
This collaboration with both organizations
comes at a critical time for Louisiana. The state as
awhole ismaking strides inpublic health; however
it consistently trails in health reports. Currently,
Louisiana is ranked 49thout of 50 states according
to United Health Foundation’s America’s Health
Rankings for the worst overall state health due to
high rates of cardiovascular and cancer deaths, as
well as diabetes andobesity. Additionally, the Sur-
geon General’s 2012 Report: Preventing Tobacco
Use Among Youth and Young Adults, indicated
that social norms influence young people to try
tobacco products. Through this partnership, TFL
and the Saints and Pelicans will work to promote
a healthier, smoke-free state.

Diagnostic Imaging Launches
New Prostate MRI
Diagnostic Imaging Services announced it has
incorporated a new cutting-edge prostate digital
imaging system with a leading-edge 3 Tesla (3T)
magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) system at its
freestanding independent outpatient imaging
center in Metairie. Through the Invivo DynaCAD
digital imaging system, Diagnostic Imaging Ser-
vices (DIS) now incorporates advanced image
analysis technology for prostate MRI examina-
tions that give physicians and radiologists more
information to aid in diagnostic assessment of
the prostate gland.
DynaCADproduces vivid images that are gener-
atedby themovement of a contrast agent through
the prostate over time. The software “lights up”
areas of the prostate that have abnormal blood
flow, which can be caused by leaky blood vessels
that are typically found in cancer.
MRI is an emerging tool for early detection of
prostate cancer and other prostate-related condi-
tions. Through the use of radio frequency waves,
detailed cross-sectional images of the prostate
and surrounding tissues are created. DynaCAD
is utilized in post exam processing to develop
images that may show specific, suspicious areas
within the prostate.
