TGMC Appoints Chief and Vice Chief of Medical Staff

Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) has appointed Ben Adams, DO, cardiothoracic anesthesiologist, as Chief of Medical Staff for 2017- 2018.

Dr. Adams brings a unique level of expertise to his role as Chief of Staff. He simultaneously served as Vice-Chief of Medical Staff, Director of Anesthesiology and Medical Director of Surgery at TGMC. He has been recognized as Becker’s Hospital Review 2016 Rising Stars: 50 Healthcare Leaders Under 40 and is the only transesophageal echo (TEE) board certified anesthesiologist at the hospital.

In his role, Dr. Adams will provide medical leadership and direction to TGMC’s highly specialized medical staff, and will oversee medical staff activities related to improving the quality of clinical services. TGMC has over 300 physicians and medical specialists, 34 medical subspecialties and 7 subspecialties.

Prior to joining TGMC in 2009, Dr. Adams earned his medical degree from Pikeville College School of Osteopathic Medicine in Pikeville, Kentucky. He completed his residency in Anesthesiology at Virginia Commonwealth University followed by a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology at Ochsner Clinic Foundation in New Orleans. He is board certified in Anesthesiology and holds a National Board Certification in Echocardiography.

In addition, Terrebonne General Medical Center (TGMC) has appointed Dr. Frederick Rau, General Surgeon, as Vice Chief of Medical Staff for 2017 -2018.

As Vice Chief of Medical Staff, Dr. Rau will support the Chief of Medical Staff, Dr. Ben Adams, in encouraging the medical staff to promote health and wellness to their patients, as well as throughout the community. TGMC has over 300 physicians and medical specialists TGMC has over 300 physicians and medical specialists, 34 medical subspecialties and 7 subspecialties.

Dr. Rau attended college at Nicholls State University, received his medical degree from Louisiana State University and completed his residency at Charity Hospital in New Orleans. He is board certified in Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and has been on staff at TGMC since 1983.
